During production, we maintain high quality standards in accordance with the applicable execution classes (EXC2, EXC3, or EXC4) for steel structures and guarantee full traceability of materials and processes. We also offer customized solutions for conservation, tailored to the required corrosion class. For timber bridges, we work with carefully selected tropical or European hardwood in Durability Class I, always with FSC® certification. Our lightweight composite bridges combine high strength with corrosion resistance and a very low maintenance requirement. Thanks to their sustainable properties and long design life, prefab composite bridges are particularly suitable for applications where minimal maintenance costs and rapid installation are important. We deliver and assemble the bridge on-site with limited site disruption and in close coordination with the contractor. By managing all interfaces integrally, we ensure a smooth and predictable execution.
Upon delivery, you will receive a complete bridge passport including calculation reports, fabrication drawings, and a transparent overview of materials and costs. This passport provides clear insight into quality, guarantees, and the materials used, with full traceability as the basis for management and future maintenance.
Wood is a natural and sustainable material that fits perfectly into both landscape and urban environments. At BestBridges, we use certified wood from sustainably managed forests (such as FSC or PEFC), including both European hardwood and tropical hardwood, depending on the application and desired lifespan. Wood also stores CO₂ throughout its lifecycle, making it a material with a low environmental impact. BestBridges uses only FSC® or PEFC certified hardwood from sustainably managed forests. Depending on the application, we select European hardwoods such as Robinia and Oak, or tropical species such as Azobé and Massaranduba, known for their high natural durability. The wood species are chosen based on their durability class according to EN 350, the environmental conditions, and the desired lifespan of the bridge. This way, we create bridges and boardwalks with a long lifespan and minimal maintenance requirements.
For wooden bridge decks and walkways, BestBridges applies integrated anti-slip strips that provide a safe and durable walking surface. The system consists of a two-component epoxy resin with a wear-resistant aggregate that is seamlessly integrated into the wooden deck. This creates a robust anti-slip zone that withstands heavy use, weather exposure, and wear, while maintaining the natural appearance of the wood.
The bridge structure is designed as a multi-web sandwich construction with a top skin, bottom skin, and internal web plates surrounding a structural core. This results in a construction with high bending stiffness at a low self-weight and efficient load transfer between the different elements.
The bridge is designed according to the applicable standards for pedestrian and bicycle bridges, with a live load of approximately 5 kN/m² and a service vehicle load of 6 tons, including a safety margin for occasional loads up to 12 tons. Upon request, the design can be further adapted for heavier loads. In the sizing, structural criteria such as allowable deflection (L/100 to L/250) and a minimum natural frequency of 3 Hz are considered, ensuring comfort and stability for users.

Thanks to their low self-weight and prefabricated bridge components, composite bridges can be installed quickly and efficiently. The bridge is fully manufactured in the factory and then transported to the site, where installation can be completed in a short time. This requires fewer heavy machines and minimizes disruption to the surrounding area. This approach ensures safe installation, a short construction period, and rapid commissioning of the bridge.
The bridge deck is finished with a durable anti-slip wear layer made of resin and mineral aggregate. This integrated top layer provides high traction and safe use in all weather conditions. The wear layer can be produced in three colors to improve visibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. At the same time, it protects the bridge deck from wear and contributes to a long, low-maintenance lifespan.
BestBridges steel bridges are suitable for short to medium spans with a limited structural height. Thanks to the high strength of steel, slender and efficient bridge structures can be designed. Depending on the application, bridge decks can be made of steel, wood, or composite, allowing for hybrid bridge solutions. The steel structures are largely prefabricated in the workshop, ensuring high production quality and enabling rapid on-site assembly. Our steel structures are produced in accordance with NEN-EN 1090 with CE standards, which guarantees controlled manufacturing and structural safety.

Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
