Diepenbeek - Stationsstraat

Design and Engineering of Two Modern Composite Bridges

Project Information

Location:
Diepenbeek, Belgium

Project Scope:
Design and Engineering

Client:
Studio LST

Studio LST engaged BestBridges LAB for the design and engineering of two modern composite bridges for a future public development project along Stationsstraat in the municipality of Diepenbeek.

As a specialized partner, BestBridges LAB was responsible for the structural design and architectural concept development, supporting the engineering office in delivering a high-quality and sustainable infrastructure solution.

Parametric Design for Complex Public Infrastructure

To support the decision-making process for this large-scale project, BestBridges LAB applied advanced parametric design methodologies. This flexible approach enabled the team to efficiently develop, evaluate, and present multiple variations of customizable balustrade concepts.

By exploring different configurations in both steel and composite materials, the LAB provided the engineering office and local authorities with a clear and visual framework for assessing the most suitable solution for the site and making well-informed decisions.

Balustrades

Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
