To modernize the local infrastructure while respecting the rich historical and spatial context of the site, the engineering firm Arcadis engaged BestBridges LAB to provide additional project support and specialized expertise in composite bridge design for the replacement of the Kalkoven Bridge in Kortrijk.
This project requires the design of a highly customized bridge structure that combines advanced structural performance with significant architectural and functional added value for the surrounding public space.
Through this integrated support, BestBridges LAB provided the technical clarity and expertise required to efficiently develop the project, successfully position it in the market, and ultimately deliver a well-considered and fully integrated infrastructure solution.
Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
