Commissioned by Tavernier Openbare Werken NV, BestBridges delivered a timber bridge in Merelbeke. With a span of 4 metres and a usable width of 2 metres, this project demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship and precise engineering.
The structure was entirely constructed from 100% FSC®-certified Robinia hardwood, a timber species renowned for its exceptional durability, natural resistance, and warm appearance. The bridge was fully prefabricated and pre-assembled before being transported and installed by BestBridges with minimal disruption to the surrounding area and without requiring any additional assembly works on site.
Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
