Commissioned by Artes Group NV, BestBridges delivered a unique timber boardwalk structure with an integrated viewing platform as a valuable addition to the development of the public space in Wijnegem.
The structure not only offers visitors a distinctive place to experience and enjoy the surrounding environment, but, through the sustainable use of timber, also contributes to improved accessibility and enhances the site’s landscape and architectural quality. This project illustrates how thoughtfully designed infrastructure can sustainably strengthen the connection between people, their environment, and public space.
Structures constructed from FSC®-certified Azobé hardwood are designed to last for generations. Thanks to their exceptional durability, high natural resistance, and warm appearance, they integrate harmoniously into a wide variety of outdoor environments.
In addition to providing a reliable and low-maintenance solution for intensive public use, these structures also contribute significantly to the spatial quality and experiential value of their surroundings. The boardwalk and deck were furthermore equipped with grooved decking boards and integrated anti-slip strips, enhancing user comfort and ensuring visitor safety in all weather conditions.
Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
