Walkways create safe and accessible pathways in natural areas, parks, and water zones while protecting the underlying ground from erosion and damage. BestBridges delivers sustainable, custom walkways for flood-prone areas, coastal regions, recreational routes, and urban environments, using either FSC®-certified European hardwood such as Robinia and Oak, tropical hardwood such as Azobé and Massaranduba (Durability Class 1), depending on the application and desired service life.

The choice of sustainable, FSC®-certified wood, both tropical and European, Durability Class 1, is made according to the application, desired lifespan, and maintenance requirements. Our standard walkway module (BB-VLONDER) with a load class of 5 kN/m², suitable for public spaces, ecologically sensitive regions, water bodies, and coastal regions. For wooden constructions, the deck boards are standardly fitted with integrated grip strips for maximum safety, even in wet conditions. Optional edge beams add extra safety, and mooring bollards can be integrated for jetty anchoring. Thanks to carefully considered material choices and a robust structure, we ensure a long service life while keeping maintenance to a minimum. In this way, we combine durability and safety with an optimal user experience.
Walkways actively contribute to the protection of vulnerable ecosystems. By guiding visitors above ground level, soil compaction is prevented, and vegetation, root structures, and water management remain largely intact. This is essential in wet zones, flood-prone areas, and nature development projects. Additionally, walkways protect existing fauna and flora from disturbance. Vulnerable plant species have the chance to develop without being trampled, while natural habitats of small mammals, amphibians, and insects are preserved. By minimizing environmental impact and creating controlled access, walkways help balance recreation and nature conservation.

Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
