Commissioned by De Saegher Grondwerken, BestBridges was responsible for the delivery, site supervision and installation of six custom timber bridges, a durable oak boardwalk and various street furniture elements for the Groen-Blauwe Oase project in Haaltert, Belgium.
By closely supervising the construction works and coordinating the installation on site, BestBridges ensured a high-quality and efficient project delivery. The structures and street furniture were crafted from durable oak, creating a safe, comfortable and long-lasting public space that blends seamlessly into the surrounding natural landscape.
BestBridges managed the project from delivery through on-site execution, providing technical site supervision throughout the installation of all bridges, the boardwalk and the timber street furniture. Careful coordination and rigorous quality control ensured that every element was installed efficiently and in accordance with the project’s technical specifications.
The project included six timber bridges, constructed using two different bridge types, together with a durable oak boardwalk. In addition, BestBridges supplied a range of timber benches and picnic tables that enhance the recreational value of the Groen-Blauwe Oase, creating inviting spaces where visitors can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. All timber structures were manufactured from durable oak and finished with four-sided planed decking boards featuring integrated anti-slip grooves for a safe and comfortable user experience.
The supporting structures of both the bridges and the boardwalk were engineered to suit the specific spans and loading requirements of the project. By combining high-quality materials with expert site supervision, professional installation and custom street furniture, BestBridges delivered a future-proof infrastructure solution where functionality, durability and landscape integration come together. The result is a cohesive public space that provides safe access while offering visitors comfortable places to rest and experience the surrounding environment.
Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
