As part of a major renovation of the Stadspark in Antwerp, BestBridges designed a new wooden walkway and terrace concept for this historic urban setting. This project, carried out in collaboration with contractor Lareco Infra, adds a refined and accessible element to the public space.

The carefully designed boardwalks and terraced seating and viewing platforms allow residents and visitors to experience the park in a new way, with a special focus on the relationship with the central pond and on enhancing the sense of space.

FSC®-Certified Hardwood Construction and Thoughtful Detailing

With a total area of approximately 584 m², the entire structure was built using ^{FSC®-certified} Azobé, a tropical hardwood in strength class D70 that is known for its exceptional durability, high strength, and natural resistance to the elements.

To ensure a safe walking experience in all weather conditions, the decking planks were equipped with two integrated anti-slip strips per plank. At the same time, the design was carefully crafted down to the last detail with specific technical solutions that enhance user comfort and simplify maintenance.

The design also includes a protective wooden railing along the entire perimeter and a section with a sturdy steel balustrade, ensuring maximum safety for park visitors.

The fundamental load-bearing structure is exceptionally robust and was designed with a substructure made of Azobé hardwood. This optimized configuration ensures high structural reliability and a service life of several decades for the wooden structural components.
