Commissioned by contractor Wulteputte and the city of Sint-Niklaas, BestBridges played a central role in the extensive renovation of the Sportkringpark. For this green public space, BestBridges designed, manufactured, and delivered a comprehensive package of custom-made outdoor furniture, complemented by two sustainable wooden boardwalks.

Each element was carefully designed to blend in as seamlessly as possible with the natural surroundings, enhance the visitor experience, and meet the high standards expected of a contemporary public park.

Contemporary and Fully Customizable Outdoor Furniture

To enhance the park’s practical value and spatial experience, BestBridges designed a cohesive collection of contemporary and minimalist outdoor furniture. This project involved the installation of 29 benches, 7 wooden information kiosks, 3 wooden viewing platforms, and 5 picnic tables.

The pieces were primarily crafted from FSC-certified oak and finished with refined steel accents. This creates a warm, natural look that ages beautifully and lasts over time.

Sustainable Boardwalks for Comfortable Access in All Weather Conditions

In addition to the outdoor furniture, the project also included the construction of two wooden boardwalks—one short and one long that ensure a smooth and comfortable flow through the park.

To ensure maximum durability in an outdoor environment, both the support structure and the bridge deck were constructed from FSC-certified Azobé wood. With a durability class of 1, the wood is ideal for ensuring user safety in all weather conditions; furthermore, the decking planks were fitted with integrated anti-slip strips, which provide extra traction and a comfortable walking experience.
