Commissioned by Van Gorp, BestBridges delivered a 15-metre-long and 4-metre-wide composite bridge in the municipality of Zoersel. The structure was designed to improve cyclist mobility and create a safe and durable connection within the local infrastructure network.
Beyond its functional benefits, the bridge distinguishes itself through a unique composite balustrade that perfectly complements the architectural character of its surroundings. The integrated railing combines refined aesthetics with a high level of safety, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable user experience.
This project demonstrates the strength of composite bridges as a low-maintenance, robust, and aesthetically appealing solution for modern cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
BestBridges composite bridges are equipped with a durable epoxy-based wearing surface. This top layer provides a safe, slip-resistant surface in a wide range of weather conditions while requiring only minimal maintenance.
As a result, the composite bridge represents an ideal long-term solution for cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. Furthermore, the epoxy surface can be supplied in different colours, allowing the bridge to be visually integrated with its surroundings or tailored to a desired architectural appearance.
Thanks to the prefabricated design and pre-installed composite balustrades, the bridge could be easily transported and efficiently installed on site with minimal disruption to traffic and local residents.
The new bridge was installed within a very short timeframe, allowing cyclists and pedestrians to immediately benefit from a safer, more comfortable, and more efficient connection. This project clearly illustrates how thoughtful prefabrication and modular construction methods contribute to the rapid delivery of sustainable mobility infrastructure.
Various types of wooden balustrades are available, made of tropical hardwood such as Azobé or Bilinga. These balustrades offer great architectural freedom, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the bridge’s design. The balustrades are easily dismountable, ensuring easy long-term maintenance without affecting the integrity of the bridge.
