Geotec Engineering, City of Maaseik

In collaboration with Geotec Engineering, BestBridges provided support for the design and engineering of a heavy-duty composite bridge for the City of Maaseik. One of the key requirements for this infrastructure project was an exceptionally high load-bearing capacity. The structure was therefore specifically designed to safely support heavy traffic and service vehicles weighing up to 40 metric tons.

The newly designed composite bridge will replace the existing bridge, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability and usability of the infrastructure. Located at a major intersection, accessibility and safety are of critical importance to all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorized traffic.

Exceptional Durability and Long-Term Performance

Composite bridges offer an advanced solution for modern infrastructure and are distinguished primarily by their exceptional service life, which can reach up to 100 years. These structures, made of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), are inherently resistant to corrosion, moisture, and other forms of degradation.

Thanks to this material durability, maintenance requirements are significantly lower throughout the bridge’s entire life cycle. This results in a robust and cost-effective infrastructure solution that represents a reliable long-term investment for both public and private applications.
